The little rescue with a big heart
Our primary mission is to rescue, rehabilitate and find loving, permanent homes for homeless dogs, specifically dogs in shelters at-risk of euthanasia and dogs whose owners can no longer care for them. We believe in compassionate rescue when the dog is enduring inhumane living conditions or likely to be deemed less adoptable due to age, health, emotional state, or breed. We ensure that all the dogs we take into our rescue, regardless of individual needs, are cared for with love and compassion for the duration of their lives.

Explore our social media to see the kinds of things we’re up to on the daily. We are constantly engaging with shelters, rescues, trainers, veterinarians, and even people in the community who just need help with their pets. It isn’t always easy, but it keeps us busy helping improve the world in our own little way…one dog at a time!

This sweetheart will be there too!! Gumbo 635 days at the shelter!!
Me too! Louisville
After a long wait, we are overjoyed to share that Chuck has finally found his home—his perfect forever home—in Montana.
His new family first saw him in a reel created by @tomkiesch and felt an instant connection. But at the time, they weren’t ready to adopt. So they quietly rooted for him from afar, hoping he’d find the happiness he deserved.
A year later, when they were ready to open their hearts to a new dog, Chuck reappeared in their feed—still waiting, still hopeful. And in that moment, it felt meant to be. Some might even call it kismet.
Out-of-state adoptions aren’t something we usually pursue. For a small rescue like ours, they can be especially challenging. But after speaking with Chuck’s would-be family, we knew we had to try. Over the following weeks, we moved forward with care—conducting in-depth conversations, checking references, completing a virtual home check, and creating a thoughtful plan for an in-person meeting.
To help Chuck prepare for this new chapter, we sent him to @robertvillaneda for a little refresher training. His new mom then made the long drive from Montana to California to meet him—spending two days working with Robert and Chuck, learning, bonding, and building trust before their journey back together.
After 14 months in the shelter—and another 14 months in rescue—Chuck’s road has finally led him to where he was always meant to be: home.
To everyone who helped Chuck along the way—we are endlessly grateful:
To @tomkiesch, his fiercest advocate and forever friend
To @robertvillaneda, for helping him gain the confidence and the tools he needed to thrive
Happy life, Chuck. You waited so long. You never gave up. This is the life you’ve always dreamed of sweet boy. Enjoy every beautiful second of it. We love you.

help us make a difference

Adopt
By providing a forever home for a dog in rescue, you're helping to free up a foster home, which allows us to help another dog in need. The dogs in our care are fully vaccinated, spayed or neutered (unless medically waived), microchipped, and receive regular wellness exams, preventative treatment, specialty care as needed. If you’re interested in meeting a K9 Kismet pack member, please fill out the adoption application to begin the process.
